DURING THE MRI
You will be positioned on a padded examination
table and slowly rolled into the opening of the MRI. The body part
being examined will be centered in the scanner. The MRI tech will take
a sequence of pictures. The exam lasts a total of 30-60 minutes.
You can choose from our large music
selection or bring a CD or iPod for us to
play during the exam.
Individuals entering the MRI area must remove personal belongings that
may be attracted by the magnetic fringe field of the MRI system.
The MRI magnet is very strong, so here is a partial list of items that need
to be removed: watches; hair
barrettes; pocket knives; nail clippers; writing instruments; pagers;
cell phones; credit, ATM, and other cards with magnetic strips;
external hearing aids; jewelry; and clothing with metal
(zippers, fasteners, threads etc.).
Also, if you have ever welded or perhaps
have metal in your eye, it is recommended
that you have an X-ray or your (eye) orbits
before the study.
